I have been passionate about food for years – cooking it, eating it, experimenting with flavour combinations and such – and I was one of myriad People-Like-Me that dreams of having a “place of their own” one day. The reality of it is that I have no experience of the kitchen, nor indeed of the front of house. The only bit of relevant work I did was the near-statutory stint as a pint puller in my late teens. Somehow, I feel somewhat under-prepared…
Then one evening, I was sat in a pub contemplating the mouthful I had just finished, and decided that it was about time that I did something about me being in the World of Food. This was in January 2010, and I ended up setting up an account on Twitter and discovered a whole new way to enjoy food.
But, enough about me… There are really only three points to this blog.
Firstly, I want to write about food. I’m not a good writer, but I am a good eater and hopefully that will help! I will share some recipes, experiences and the all important results of Experimental Wednesdays. I really want these to inspire you into trying new things, tasting new dishes, attempting new techniques and ultimately enjoying your food.
Secondly, I have been ‘watching’ the London food scene on Twitter and I am, frankly, jealous. Really jealous. In Oxford, we don’t have the same level of interaction with restaurants, wine shops and chefs as the London lot do. I believe it’s time for that to change: we have great producers, passionate restaurateurs and a big gang of us that enjoy when the two meat! (Yes… it’s not a typo.)
Finally, there is the Tech side. I am a geek… I get excited by gadgets and such and I’m opinionated; so I will be giving you my views from time to time about new bits of technology.
I should say at this point that I have been tempted to drop the Tech bit and just keep it as “Food[slash]…” because every now and then, I will be writing off-topic. I love cars, I have a dog, I am a grumpy 30-something year old and I feel like sometimes I’ll just have to let you know!
That’s me, really, and the blog. So, expect lots of food stuff and a smattering of Tech and who knows maybe one day I’ll have that little place of my own.
Oh – one last note; this blog is a work in progress so please be patient with the styling etc!

Are you going to include pictures? I think you have something in your writing, but pictures of your food would be most welcome.

Thanks for the note – yes I plan to include picture with my recipes and visits to foodie places. Unfortunately, I hadn’t planned to blog the Velvet Chicken Pie, so I didn’t take any pictures… I see my lady getting pretty frustrated with me as I snap every potential entry!
